Each step is a
separate concrete casting and are
available in 3 ft. and 4 ft. widths. The step sections literally lay on the surface of the
ground, thus they are able to ride with the frost. Risers can be finished in brick, stone,
exposed aggregate, or plain concrete.
To the right is one method we use for installing a
standard
Shawnee set of steps in a terrace. The
side walls are cut away
to allow the unit to float more with the frost, thus preventing the step
from jacking itself out of the terrace from frost action. |
